Our Story

For Samey, Street Industries is the culmination of his own personal story. He grew up in one of the poorest housing estates in NSW, known for poverty, crime and violence.

Samey grew up in this environment, believing this was the norm.. As a child or a young adult, that environment can seem almost inescapable, and you are pressured to try and fit in, which evolves and grows over time if the right support and guidance doesn't reach you or is simply not available.

“After years of working on the streets of regions across Sydney, I noticed young people continuously falling through the gaps of services and not having equal access to support and opportunities in the community. There is limited focus and attention on breaking the barriers for this invisible group of young people in the community and a lack of meaningful connections and lifelong relationships”

“I founded Street Industries to bridge that gap - to engage with them at a level they can relate to and understand. We create a sense of belonging and camaraderie to shape their identities and futures beyond what their current environments allow and provide them with a sense of hope and purpose, leading them back to their families, their education, and their communities.”

Our Strategic Objectives 

Street Industries has set four strategic objectives for 2021 – 2023 that build on our past achievements and focus on fulfilling our vision going forward.

These objectives are interrelated as success in one is dependent on success in another. A range of linked core activities and strategic projects will be undertaken over the life of the plan towards achievement of these objectives.

  • Awareness - Build brand awareness of who Street Industries & what our differentiators are.

  • Connection – Through SI initiatives ensure holistic outcomes for young people and bridge the gap with wider community

  • Sustainability – Diversify Income Stream and develop a long term, sustainable funding approach

  • Effectiveness – Deliver the best, most effective operating model through continued research and evaluation, and maintaining compliance to become a leader in our respective area
