Street Smart Project

The Street-Smart Project aims to support young people aged 10 – 24 years old who are involved or ‘at risk’ of involvement with the criminal justice system and who are not accessing mainstream youth-related services. The project also supports young people who have or at risk of developing drug and alcohol issues.

The project adopts a form of outreach and street-based youth work that operates without the use of a centre and occurs where young people “are at” both geographically and developmentally. This project operates in evenings at times of high risk, responsive to areas of youth-related activity including anti-social behaviour & substance misuse and abuse.

The Street Smart Project is running in the following areas

  • Canterbury Bankstown Local Government Area (LGA)
  • City of Sydney LGA
  • Georges River LGA
  • Cumberland LGA

You see you wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals. On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity. We would all love it's will to reach the sun. Well, we are the rose - this is the concrete - and these are my damaged petals. Don't ask me why, ask me how!
